These are new baseball programs for Spring/Summer and Fall 2019.

UBC Thunderbirds Youth Summer Camps – Powered by Rawlings

Coaches: Mitch Hodge, Tyler Enns, Vinny Martin, Jeremy Newton and Varsity players

All players will receive a UBC Thunderbirds New Era hat and Under Armour shirt!

Rawlings will be providing several great prizes for the coaches to give out each week!

The UBC Baseball Youth Summer Camps were a major hit last year, and we are we are looking forward to an even better summer is 2019! Be sure to register your little leaguer for a baseball camp experience that they will never forget!

The Thunderbird All-Skills Camp is the place to be to keep your little leaguer’s season going through the heart of summer! Your young baseball player will get the chance to experience the state of the art Rose Indoor Training Centre and Tourmaline West Baseball Stadium. Each day, players will learn the fundamentals and advanced techniques of pitching and fielding. Coaches will educate the players on proper footwork, glovework and pitching mechanics throughout the morning followed by a competitive pitching and fielding activity. In the afternoon, the camp will be designed to develop each player’s offensive skills in hitting and base running. Players will focus on their mechanics, game knowledge and hitting approach at the plate. The day will conclude with competitive games and testing the players on what they learned throughout the day. Hitting a home run at the Rogers Centre or Fenway Park will become a reality with our HitTrax Hitting Simulators. Campers can take some swings off the Pro Batter pitching machine, and see how they can handle a curveball! There is no better way to spend your summer vacation than the Thunderbird All-Skills Camp!

Spend your mornings with us at the state-of-the-art Rose Indoor Training Centre and Tourmaline West Baseball Stadium! Our coaches will help your little leaguer develop their defensive skills, throwing mechanics and pitching. The players will work on all facets of defensive play, and strengthen their infield, outfield and catching abilities. In addition, players will expand their knowledge of proper pitching and throwing mechanics to help improve their strike percentage and throwing velocity.

Please Note: Players are required to bring their own helmet, glove, and bat to camp, as well as their lunch and a refillable water bottle.

The Thunderbird Hitting and Base Running camp is focused on all offensive aspects of baseball. Players will improve their hitting mechanics, bat path and bat speed, while having fun training with a variety of games and competitions throughout the afternoon. Players will put their skills to the test in live at-bat simulations and competitions. Base running techniques and skills will be implemented in their daily activities. UBC Baseball will be hosting a competitive camp for players looking for a special experience to end their summer. Players will compete in a series of on field games in our stadium and inside our facility using our HitTrax Hitting Simulators. Coached by our PBL coaches and head instructors, each player will get a chance to play baseball and continue to develop their skills in a competitive setting using our state of the art facilities at UBC. The camp will be designed to challenge each player to perform their best as they strive to win the first UBC Baseball Summer World Series Championship!

Thunderbirds Baseball Varsity Experience Camp – Powered by Rawlings

Experience the student-athlete lifestyle with UBC Baseball! The UBC Thunderbirds Baseball coaching staff and players will host a week of on-field and off-field activities at the Rose Indoor Training Centre and Tourmaline West Stadium at UBC. The overnight experience will give players a chance to showcase their talents and learn from some of the finest instructors in Canada. Players will get a glimpse of what it takes to play at the next level while living the life of a university student. Recruiting and admissions information will be shared from UBC Athletics, and the Admissions office to provide the next steps for prospective athletes. Players will stay on campus in dorms and all meals will be provided (full package).

UBC Thunderbird Minors and Majors Baseball Development Program

FALL SESSION

The Minors Winter Development Program will prepare players for a successful start to their season. Players will gain confidence from working week to week on fundamental skills, competitive drills and learning in-game approaches and situations. The Winter program will take the newly acquired skills learned in our Fall program and guide players through the proper preparation for their upcoming games in the spring.

  • Led by UBC Baseball’s head instructors and varsity athletes
  • Sessions split into 8-10 year old (Minors) and 11-12 year old (Majors) age groups
  • 14-week program
  • Participants will acquire a better understanding of the game, their athleticism, and true potential as baseball players

Pro-D Day Camps – Powered by Rawlings

Pro-D Day baseball camps provide the perfect opportunity for players to keep busy and active on days off school. Led by UBC instructors, players will spend the morning learning new skills through drill work. In the afternoon, they will apply their new knowledge during games and competitions throughout the afternoon. Players will be able to spend the entire day at the RITC, experiencing our facilities and learning about the game of baseball.

Bring a glove, bat, helmet, and lunch.

Get access to one of the UBC Thunderbird varsity players for an hour of instruction. Our instructors can teach a variety of skills and focus on position specific training.

Satellite Baseball Instruction

The UBC Baseball instructors can come out to your practice to help your team or players this season! We are offering a satellite instructor program that will have our UBC assistant coaches and varsity players travel out into the community to help run practices, provide skill-specific instruction, or private instruction. Satellite instruction is dependent on our instructor’s availability, and the location of the sessions.

Satellite Costs: $51.00/hour

Programming Costs: $30.75/hour

UBC Coach: $51.00/hour

UBC Varsity Player: $25.50/hour

Winter Break Camps – Powered by Rawlings

Get out of the cold this Winter Break for a fun-filled week of baseball camps lead by our UBC Varsity Assistant Coaches and Lead Instructors.

We are offering a 3-day camp from December 21-23 or the option to register for a single day at the Rose Indoor Training Centre. The camps will cover a variety of baseball activities including drill work, games, and competitions. The downtime from school will provide kids with the perfect opportunity to start their preparation for the upcoming season while in an entertaining atmosphere.

2019 UBC Baseball Recruit Showcase

The University of British Columbia Baseball Program will be hosting a recruitment showcase this Fall in Vancouver. The event is designed to introduce players to an elite level baseball showcase with Canada’s best university program. The event will allow the UBC coaching staff to evaluate players for potential recruitment. This will be a great chance for players’ in your area to be evaluated in their pursuit of a post-secondary baseball opportunity.

All of the evaluations will be held at the Tourmaline West Baseball Stadium and the Rose Indoor Training Centre.

Pee Wee Training Program

UBC Baseball is offering a new program for players who have recently been aged out of Little League, due to the new birth date guidelines. Players that played Pee Wee in the 2019 season are also eligible for this program. Players will have to present a copy of their birth certificate prior to the program start date for proof of eligibility.

This program will largely focus on educating players on how to create better rhythm and timing at the plate when hitting, proper technique how leading off bases, develop more athletic footwork and glovework during fielding exercises, and introduce holding runners on base from both and pitching and defensive component. All of these sessions will have a 6:1 player to instructor ratio and will be led by Mitch Hodge, Senior PBL head coach and lead instructor at the Rose Indoor Training Centre.
